Lemonade Fair Part 2
Lemonade Fair Part 2
I don’t think I sold anything for the first hour or so. My booth neighbors were getting a few sales and I was like. Welp…. this might be a total bust. Then finally someone bought something and then it was on and off for the rest of the day. I will say I did much better midday. Some of the people who were looking earlier came back. I had someone at the Whitney Center ask if I would put my work on display and have since set that up! I will have my work up there from Sept 1 to Oct 31st! All in all, it was a great day for me.
It always surprises me what pieces people buy. I sold some of my favorites and that’s a little bitter sweet in a way. I had someone looking at a hand build, bowl shape with non-uniform edge. The glaze was a dark green, yellow and I over lapped the two to make a lighter green. She made a nice comment about it. I thanked her and told her that piece almost didn’t come with me today. That one I almost kept. She ended up buying it a few mins later and I’m glad she did. I almost put it back in the car, lol. She has a painting and the colors of it just matched perfectly. I only have a few pieces that I think I feel that way about. It just means I get to make more. I wasn’t expecting most of what I call my critters and creatures to sell. One of the funniest things to me are the pieces that make you think, why the heck would anyone even want this? Maybe I didn’t quite like the shape or the glaze combo. Then someone buys it! I think one thing I have learned is that to some degree it doesn’t matter what I think of my work. I can just put it all out there and if someone likes it for whatever reason, I’m just glad they found it and it brings them joy. I met so many awesome people throughout the day. I kind of lucked out weather wise because a storm brewing.
I would say around 2:30 the fair attendants went around from booth to booth letting us know we had bad weather headed our way. It would be ok if we packed up early but we could stay at our own risk. I’ve lived in Saint Cloud for a few years now and the storms tend to just split right before they get here. My husband and I tracked it on and off and it didn’t look promising as it got closer. Several vendors left but there were still plenty of people having a great time. My sales picked up and it was worth staying. Then we packed everything else back up. The tear down didn’t take that long. Maybe 30-45 mins. All in all, I would do the Lemonade Fair again and plan on requesting a booth next year. I’ll hope to see you there!
